The service is great and the d... read more After being away from home for two months, we were so thrilled to find an authentic Chinese restaurant on the street we explored. The service is great and the dishes they prepared are very delicious just like a traditional Chinese restaurant. We love every dish that we ordered. The lighting is a little dim that’s why the rating at 4 for atmosphere. We wish more people who appreciate Chinese food would dine there to truly experience it.

Being an Asian, raises our standards quite a bit and we do not mind paying more for quality so we were curious that is why we went here and there were no Portuguese restaurants within the area. We started with three types of soup: the wanton soup, I suggest you order other soups as this has only wanton wrapper and almost nothing inside the wanton wrapper; the three flavoured soup- not really that special with scrambled eggs and chicken stock, that is about it. ; Gambas soup, which is a shrimp soup with mushrooms- the best among the three soups. We ordered fried wanton but got only the fried wanton and nearly no filling inside and the Chinese crepe which is not really the authentic Chinese version because it should be round not flat. It is hot when served but a bit salty good thing it comes with a sweet and sour sauce. We also ordered lula com chopsuey which is mixed vegetables and squid, good. Fish with bamboo shoots and mushroom, good. House fried rice and drinks for three people. Total of what we paid was €25. Not bad for lunch for three persons. The only thing was that the waitresses were all very hurriedly serving our food and in a hurry literally nearly threw our cutleries just right in front of us since it was already 2 in the afternoon.

Having recently returned to Lisbon, for the third time in four years, I was amazed to find that the set menu was still on offer at an INCREDIBLE 5 EUROS!. The starter was a large, crispy spring roll with a sweet chilli dip, followed by a choice of either a beef, pork or chicken dish for the main course, with tasty egg fried rice and served with a cool drink. The service is prompt and efficient, the decor is oriental and tasteful and the food is fresh and mouth watering! So far, I have only been to Xi Hu at lunch time, when it has been quieter but after such a positive experience here, I feel inspired to return in the evening time to sample more of the tasty dishes on offer I can imagine it making a very intimate and atmospheric setting. I can't speak highly enough about this place just go and see for yourself how scrummy the food is, and at such an affordable price! They really do deserve the recognition Well done to all the staff at Xi Hu!
