I reserved a private room with Restaurant Valle Flor for my wife's birthday. Restaurant manager Mr. Pedro helped us arrange an amazing dinner. I have traveled many places around the world, but the professionalism of the Valle Flor staff, the passion for their jobs and hospitality make me feel comfortable, relax and want to be back in the future. I would like to express my appreciation to all the staff of the restaura... View all feedback.
What Rubybirkenhead doesn't like about Valle Flor:
The hotel restaurant is in such a fabulous room in this former palace that it's worth it for that alone (although if you are staying in the hotel you can benefit from using the room for breakfast). On the positive side our waitress was delightful and they helped me celebrate my birthday by providing us with complimentary glasses of fizz and a small chocolate cake dessert. The service was very attentive and distinguished. The wine list was reflective of the incredible surroundings. It is definitely a nice place. The food was generally well seasoned and had good presentation. Unfortunately, both dishes (swordfish and the quail) were over cooked, dry, and cold by the time that they reached our table. As the restaurant was not busy this was disappointing. It seems that the kitchen is far away. Our eighth dinner in Portugal and by far the worst in terms of food quality. Great service and decor though. We will not go back.
The dining experience itself was amazing. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food tasted wonderful. We ordered the 5-course menu and it was more than enough food with an excellent choice of wines made by the sommelier. My favorite was the Francesinha in the hotel way which was a great and delicious surprise. It is pricey, but definitely worth it.
Start with a cocktail in the hotel bat before dinner and spend time choosing the a la carte or tasting menu. Definitely I would recommend the roasting menu with accompanying wine selection. The soufflé is a must and ask your waiter to pre book as it takes 10 minutes to prepare. Enjoy and leave those calories concerns aside for a fabulous meal.
We stayed at the Pastana Palace for a week. Ate at the Valle Flor once. The food and service are good, but if you consider the prices there is better value for money in Lisbon. The ambiance (eating in a real palace) is a unique experience though.
Food and setting absolutely an experience. They stayed late to make sure we got to enjoy our experience
