When we said we had not, the receptionist recommended we try th... read more We were staying at this glorious hotel and on checking in, asked if we had a dinner reservation. When we said we had not, the receptionist recommended we try the hotel restaurant. Why not? The Valle Flor is a beautiful room with decorated walls and lovely lighting. The tables are far enough apart to be able to enjoy a conversation without being overheard. The staff are wonderfully attentive and that is where the beauty ends.... The menu is thoughtful and reads well with delicious suggestions if not a little pricey but you are staying at one of the top hotels in Portugal. When the food arrived, it was poorly cooked, portions were infinitesimally small, and cold. The waiters were so overly effusive about our dishes, it felt harsh to complain. I did mention this but as it only took a forkful to finish the plate, what to be done? The answer? Don't eat here. There are other better restaurants to try in Lisbon... But do eat breakfast if you're staying overnight it's wonderful!
