In fact, we could easily look out a bedroom window to see if they were open (Mon Fri only) or not. With only a half dozen tables this was a very simple, mom and pop Portuguese restaurant Pop told me they had owned the restaurant for 20 years. I got takeout fried chicken (NB: not the same as American fried chicken in any sense of the word) one evening and chatted with the owner over a brandy while the chicken cooked. They seem to be busier at lunch time, usually with a couple specials/plates of the day (one fish, one meat) than in the evening. We thought we would end up there more often, but never made it back. But give it a try for an authentic experience if in the area.

We later walked up the street then returned and passed a gentleman and his child eating a dish that looked delicious.We actually were on the way back down the street to a restaurant where we were the night before but chose this instead.They had the dish of the day for lunch, a pork dish and a beef dish.The food was very delicious and the owners extremely nice.When we return we will be sure to visit again.A very down home and authentic restaurant.

The restau... read more Small restaurang off the beaten track. Found it when we walked around the neighbourhood of Santos. Run by a man and his wife. He speaks good english. The restaurang opened around six oclock. Had the typical Portugese fare on the menu. The butcher next door delivered the meet for the evening. Tasted very good. Main dish around 7 euro.
