They offer exceptional Portuguese cuisine for a f... read more We just moved to Lisbon and this place is literally steps away. We have been to the Smile Cafe numerous times. They offer exceptional Portuguese cuisine for a fraction of what you would pay in the Baixa or Chiado areas. I recommend their special, whatever their special is, order it. We get the special each time, usually a fish dish (this time was beans and squid, but we have had cod and potatoes, whitefish and spinach). Today we got two specials, water and two beers and the tab was a whopping $12,30 Euros. We asked for the mini versus regular dish and it was still a LOT of food. We could have easily shared it. Everyone eats here from executives, local workers, but not many tourists. It's worth the walk to come here. There were maybe a dozen people in the place and all but 1 ordered the lunch special. The same happens each time we visit.
