Was Anonym at Estafado a mag?
Fado House with very typical great Fado singers with exceptional service and hospitality. If you are in a Fado mood don't loose this. I went there with some friends last week and it was just wonderful !! View all feedback.

What Anonym dislikes about Estafado:
I was suggested this restaurant by friends who live in Lisbon. We were looking for a place where to have dinner and listen to Fado. I was also told the two don't come together very often. The food was simple and good; the Fado was also very enjoyable. What was not, were the prices. I ordered such simple fare as Pasteles de bacalhao with rice: 22 €. Micro-bottles of mineral water of 100 cl at 2.5€; one l. of red house... View all feedback.

I have lived in Portugal for four years and I have seen Fado in a number of Fado houses as well as friends´ homes. It is a style of music unique to Lisbon and should not be missed. This taverna, however is one to avoid. My first clue should have been that there were more empty tables than full. Then came the menu. For the price, the main course was average but a bit on the high end for what you get. But where they stick it to you is on the starters, drinks and deserts. A small plate of tipical starters was 14€. Wine was three to four times the price on the market and double what you´d pay in virtually any other restaurant in town. A small bottle of water or a small portion of a desert was 5€. Service was friendly, but a bit slow. We arrived 20 minutes before the music started and yet our order wasn´t taken until after the first set of the performance. There is a sign on the door that says, We´re not a touristic place, but you´re welcome. I have been to several non-touristic Fado houses, filled with people who love Fado. There were clearly people in this place that didn´t even know the first thing about etiquette in a Fado house. They sat in silence until the music started, then began their conversations. My advice: If you are visiting Lisbon, don´t miss a Fado night, but take a look at some of the other fado houses I have reviewed and avoid this place. Dinner in a typical Fado house will normally set you back between 20-45€ per person, but what you get for 45€ in a decent Fado house, in terms of service, quality and quantity of food and what that 45€ buys you, puts this place to shame. To management: Consider restructuring your pricing. People won´t think twice about paying 25€ for an entree, but when a bottle of wine costs three times the price you are charging for an entree, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

On top of this, they don't take any kind of credit card or ATM.

I went to the place with a discount coupon, so I had a fixed menu. It corresponded to a medium quality with princes in a range of medium to high. The night was with intervals of eating and 3 songs, then again a long period for talking and eating and more 3 songs.

I went to this restaurant with a big group (with reservation and fixed menu). The restaurant has a terrible space-organisation and is not comfortable. But the worst is the food, the quantity of food is a joke (not enough even for tasting). I am local and I went there for the fist time, for sure that I will not visit again. The fado music was not impressive and there are a lot of tables where is impossible to see the fado singers. This recent restaurant is a tourist trap!
