Was thegreatjimbobette at Cesteiro a mag?
Lovely 'family ' cafe in a slightly off-centre street in Lisbon full of reasonably priced restaurants with friendly service. We came for drinks and nibbles, ordering bread with local pate tapas and we really enjoyed our food. Staff also attentive and helpful but far from pushy. Would recommend this place for a less touristy option (English spoken by staff) with great food. View all feedback.
What smaresident dislikes about Cesteiro:
Really pushy staff, fell for the bait. The oysters 2 of 6 were reasonable size four were minuscule. The seafood paella required a spyglass to find the sea food. Not good, definitely not recommend. View all feedback.

Fresh and delicious food. We ordered the Dorada plate and it’s a dream come true for those who love fish. You can order one for two people.
We had some local Sangria and a long plate full of different tapas. Was a good warm up before heading to Beira Alto...
Avoid this place like the plague. We were looking for a recommended restaurant next to this and unfortunately walked past. When we refused to go in to his restaurant the waiter put his arm around me and accused me of being anti social. On walking past the restaurant later the waiter deliberately tried tripping me up. A nastier group of low life’s I’ve yet to come across. Really weird sinister vibe to the place and the staff are horrid lowlifes. Looking at the reviews I was clearly right to go with my gut.
This was the first place we ate in Portugal. We enjoyed the service and the meal was OK, but it was far from the best we had in Lisbon. We chose the restaurant because we were speaking with the waiter and we liked him. He was very helpful with the menu and attentive with his service throughout our time in the restaurant. Unfortunately, not all the food was good. We enjoyed the starters and the pastas but the other main dishes weren’t as good. The swordfish and salmon were mushy. The bones in the other fish we ordered were not as easy to remove as we were told they would be. With so many other restaurants in the area, we didn’t go back and had much better meals elsewhere.

We just had dinner there last night so it must have reopened. Dinner was great and service was very friendly and efficient. We enjoyed a wonderful time! Price per person: €40–45 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
Not a typical Portuguese restaurant ! Charging service charge without letting us know is a crime and I don’t is legal also! The food is the worst compared to other nearby restaurants! Don’t go here, you will thank me later! Service is the worst as well! Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €25–30 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
