It is, unfortunately, too easy to miss this hidden gem amongst the hustle and bustle of the theatre. Ignore the haters and love the tradition!

No bread or any starters offered, which is automatically provided in the majority of Portuguese restaurants. Grilled chicken 7.95 euros, acceptable but a half handful of chips on the plate to go with it and a small cupful of rice and nothing else. Chocolate mousse acceptable, charged separately at 3.50 euros. My main gripe is that we were charged 7.50 euros for a half litre (meio jarro) of red wine. That is the normal price of a full litre (jarro) and was itemised as a jarro on the bill. I questioned this and was told that it was correct even though I pointed to the empty half litre and told the waiter that is a 'meio jarro´. Made up for the overcharge by not leaving a tip.

When we a... read more The staff were sweet, but a bit hard to make contact with once we got our table. The mains were disappointing, the deserts and drinks somewhat better. When we asked for the desert menu, they came back with a tray with three different deserts, asking us to choose. Weird. All in all a disappointment. I wish they’d started an Indian restaurant instead.
