Quante establishment, just what you would expect from a small town diner, I personally loved the atmosphere, food was great as were the couple that own this drive in, they are only open 6 months of the year so your best to be there in the summer. A definite must stop to eat location. View all feedback.
We rented a cottage in Lions Head and I was told by the owner of the cottage that FDI was a great place for Subs. Then I took a look on TripAdvisor and say the rave reviews so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant is an unassuming little place, nothing fancy at all. We were greeted warmly when we arrived by the friendly owners. They offered suggestions on what to get for my 5 year old. A grill cheese with bacon sandwich for her and a side of home cut fries. Amongst the other things we ordered were, a sub, chicken fingers and fries, philly cheese steak, battered mushrooms and of course… some fresh cut fries. The food was outstanding! We all gobbled it up… it was by far the best food we had, had during our stay in Lions Head. The home made buns and bread were fabulous, the special mustard is a must have! We liked it so much that we went back the next night for dinner again.
Good food. Simple choices. Popular are subs and pizza. Handy location when travelling the Bruce Peninsula.
Really tasty. People are correct to rave about the subs, they 're tasty. The sign saying 'RIBS TODAY ' drew our attention, and the ribs were worth it too. Great diner coffee. People inside all seemed to know one another, lots of regulars. I liked the sausage, my wife less so. All in all, good reliable eats.
We couldn't have chosen a better spot to grab sandwiches for our picnic on Flowerpot Island. The Ferndale Drive In had a great selection of fresh ingredients, plenty of sandwich and sub toppings to choose from, and delicious homemade baked goods for dessert. Everything was top-notch.
I have been a loyal patron of this restaurant for over 25 years, always indulging in their delicious ribs and sausage. However, this week I decided to venture out and try their sandwiches, specifically the BLTs, and I was pleasantly surprised. During our 5-day stay at our cottage in Stokes Bay, my family and I visited the restaurant 6 times because the food was just that good. The kids enjoyed the grilled cheese, my wife liked the subs, and I couldn't get enough of the BLTs. Of course, we all still savored the ribs and sausage that we have come to love over the years. I would give this place a perfect 10 out of 10 for their great prices, top-quality food, and fresh bread. The consistency in the taste of their ribs and sausage over the years has never disappointed me. The only downside is that the restaurant is located at my cottage and not closer to my home.
