I was pleasantly surprised to discover this hidden gem. I booked a reservation here to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday.

In August, I visited this restaurant with a friend. Every year, we choose a tea house to visit and enjoy high tea, and we were thrilled to discover this hidden gem. The historic school house adds an interesting touch to the charming tea service. I have dietary restrictions for gluten and dairy, which I mentioned when making the reservation. They were accommodating and used my own gluten-free bread to create a personalized sandwich tray for me. I was surprised to find that they had also prepared gluten-free cupcakes, crackers, and plenty of fruit for me on the other trays, all of which were delicious. I didn't feel like I was missing out at all. Unlike most restaurants, they didn't make me feel like a burden or charge me extra. My friend, who doesn't have any dietary restrictions, was equally impressed with her trays. The service was friendly and attentive, and the owner even took the time to chat with us and answer our questions. It felt like a step back in time to a more gracious world. This place is definitely worth a visit.

This restaurant is a wonderful spot for delicious, traditional home-cooked meals. They also offer a selection of high teas with a variety of teas for tea enthusiasts. The restaurant is located in a charming old one-room schoolhouse, making it a unique and delightful dining experience. The butternut squash soup and shepherd's pie were both excellent choices. Overall, it is a surprising and fantastic find.

We had a lovely lunch here, I had the tea sandwiches and they were happy to make an adjustment for me and the sandwiches were just what you'd expect and look forward to for tea. My husband had the Shepherd's pie, which he said was delicious. Dessert, the small eclair, was dry. The schoolroom is festooned with photos and historical information for the schoolhouse and the area and you are welcome to take a look while you wait. The staff are very happy to answer questions about the food, about the schoolhouse, about Ormsby and Coe Hill.

Sorry Mr. Trump, but the mantra of the retail community isn't always accurate. The Old School House does not have "location" (unless you are one of the 50 denizens of Ormsby or you have a thing about visiting one of the original Pioneer Roads of the 1800's Old Hastingds Rd North) But what it lacks in location it makes up for in quality, ambience and value. Whether a full meal (and you will be full) or just an an afternoons High Tea, it's worth the drive to Ormsby Its just 20 minutes south of Bancroft and 20 minutes west of Apsley.
