Lovely winery, with an astonishing view! The owner James is really helpful and tells you every little detail about the wines with great passion. I would highly recommend taking your time sitting on the balcony while tasting some of the wines, interesting variety they have over here. What Ian Luevano doesn't like about Cargo Road Winery Cafe:
Visited today on a holiday weekend for Lunch. On our experience I would advise "Don't". There was a choice of three ravioli (re-heated frozen served without sauce, but grated cheese was available). My gluten-free option was two partly cooked sausages served with a blob of greyish partly- mashed potato and 1/3 of a plate of boiled frozen peas, served half-hot. I'll definitely visit the winery again soon!Wines to go for: the Zinfandel (from Croatia!) and the Barbera.
Last stop of the day on a wine tour and staff were very attentive and explained their lovely wines. Also purchased some verjuice and there was honey and fig paste available.
A slightly different wine experience.Stopped in here for lunch and a wine taste, no menu, this is what we have available. Given a glass and seated at lunch table, wine maker came and sat with us pouring glasses and telling us about the wine, until the lunch arrived. Was quite pleasant and informative.Lunch was OK, partner thought her ravioli was too small a serve and still not sure how much it cost. :)
Visited 29th April 2017.We had the good fortune of visiting with new Viticulturalist Nick as he spoke with great enthusiasm & knowledge about the fabulous wines at Cargo Road. Some unusual varietals here too most notably Zinfandel. The view is wide & open & gorgeous from the balcony. The winery doesn't come up high on the ratings which is a shame but maybe a reflection of a small hardworking establishment that gets all the essentials right ~ great wine, fabulous views, coffee, & simple eats ~ 3 types of delicious homemade vege ravioli for a bite to eat ~ just perfect (you actually don't need anymore people; you are visiting a winery not a restaurant...)
