Very quiet for a restaurant on a Saturday night, we should have seen this as a warning sign the dinge started to go bad when the first drinks arrived at our table. I had a whole prise peroni that was knocked over by the waitress. she went and took some tissue I thought was for me, but she used it to wipe the table while giggling about the chaos I was in. I had to ask for more tissue to dry me off. I asked if we could have these round drinks free and she said yes. no attempt was made to delete the floor that was a pool of beer and an accident that waited to pass we ordered chicken breast that looked more than it was taken by a budgie it was so small...more
Incredible food and intimidating restaurant manager. we have been here often in the past, but the food we had last night (my birthday) was terrifying. the dressed crab starter had so much coarsely ground black pfeffer in that it felt gritty and the spaghetti carbonara again had so much black pfeffer my man couldn't eat it. my seabass was over boiled, the potatoes burned and the vege. under done. the restaurant manager was really not helpful and refused to take the cost of uneaten eating out of the bill. we never go back and would not recommend it to anyone.
Excellent eating on the trent mersey channel. we were on a canal trip and stopped right in front of the plum pudding where we could use their private berths. Welcome was very friendly, restaurant was warm (very important when they spent the day in the cold on a barge), fine range of ales including handpull and a large selection on the menu plus a large board of specials. eating was super mouthwater and tasty, we had a choice of home made dishes that wait to order meals fresh obviously a small one. try the healthy garlic bread while waiting. service was very good and personal. children loved this approach and loved even more the desserts .read more
