A long-running, family-style Mexican spot with an extensive menu and reliably fresh chips and salsa, Vargas draws regulars and road-trippers alike. Praise centers on friendly, attentive staff and generous variety, but experiences vary: dishes can be well-made or bland/underseasoned, portion inconsistency and occasional food-safety and cleanliness issues have been reported. Expect slower service and long waits on busy days, and intermittent AC problems. Worth trying for variety and atmosphere, but temper expectations about consistency.

Very polite service but the food wasn't the best. Price didn't equal the value of the food
Food tasted good and portions were large. The waitress was rude and we waited for 1 1/2 hour for our food to arrive.
The food was pretty good. And the service was OK. And while the place was not filthy it looked like it could be cleaned better. The air conditioner was not running so it was hot in the building.
Good food, friendly considerate staff
Pricey, food not very flavorful. Clean, pleasant staff.
