Dan's Cafe - Lexington
Dan's Cafe
Description
Nestled in Lexington, this down‑home spot pairs Southern charm and generous portions with genuinely friendly service. Standout comfort dishes — chicken and waffles, chicken livers, chicken‑fried steak, cheeseburgers and pie — are affordable and satisfying, though quality can be inconsistent (cold fries, overcooked items, takeout mistakes). The dining room is casual and busy, with ample parking and wheelchair access, making it a family favorite. Expect hearty, meat‑forward cooking and hospitality rather than refined plating or extensive vegetarian/dietary accommodations.

We so looked forward to the reopening. We had the chicken fried steak, and it was remarkable. Last night, we ordered for takeout, and it was terrible. I hate to complain online, but we couldn't get through by phone. My husband was missing his salad, and why they put in these fried tomatoes is beyond me. The fries were old and cold. The pork belly burnt ends were so hard they were inedible. This was the only bad experience we have had with these owners. Everyone has bad days, so this will not stop us from going there again.
The chicken livers here are fantastic! There's plenty of parking available, and the restaurant is kid-friendly, making it a great choice for families. It also offers easy access for wheelchairs.
