What Mewas doesn't like about The Volunteer:
Great pub grub, but don’t eat here if you’re in a hurry! After 30 minutes of waiting for two sandwiches, we were told that one order wasn’t available. We weren’t offered or given a refund for the difference. 15 minutes after that we finally got to eat. Just a shame as by that time we were feeling frustrated and just wanted to leave. We would’ve asked for our money back after 40 minutes, but it was a bit awkward with... View all feedback. What Zach Lee likes about The Volunteer:
I went to the pub with my dad for Sunday dinner and it was really good. my father had bark and I had chicken the part is huge and I did not eat for the rest of the day because it was so filled. decor inside is not the best, but eating is worth it View all feedback.

read moreThe pub in Lewes has had a rocky past but is now a hidden gem. Despite some negative experiences, like bad beer and unwelcoming staff, recent visits have been positive. The food is basic but enjoyable, and the atmosphere is safe and relaxed, especially for families. The pub offers a mix of comfortable seating and a garden for sunny days, as well as opportunities for entertainment like pool and live music. Overall, the pub has turned around its reputation and is now a welcoming spot near the bus station in Lewes.
The service was poor. The bacon was covered in dirt from the fryer and tasted like rubbish do not advise anyone to go there it’s a waste of money
