Gian-Marco (GM the waiter was super friendly and speaks at least Italian, French and English. The wine was great and GM knows about the wines and their producers. The food was outstanding! Absolutely recommended! We had antipasti, primo and dolci with wine, water, digestive and espresso. The ambience is relaxed and romantic as it is somewhat secluded. (Insider tip for dessert is definitely the tiramisù! Saluti to Marco and Nina di Zurigo!
The food and service are pretty good. In general a good place for dinner but quite pricy and small portions maybe that is just how it is in Italy) . They charge 3 euros per head count as service fee, which is also applied to children at age of 2 and 3.
We went to ask for a table and if the kitchen is still open on our first and third day in Levanto. First time we basically got told how we could have the audaciousness to even ask at 21:30. There is no sign of opening hours of the kitchen or the restaurant. Trip Advisor says 23:00. We thought: ok bad day and we’re in Italy…it’s not new that they’re a bit harsh sometimes. Second time, we went to ask at 20:45, they told us that the kitchen closes at 21:00 and that they’re fully booked in a way I don’t even wanna detail here. In the very nice pub down the street, they told us that that’s how they always are and it’s kind of their “Charme”. Apparently they treat you the same way, even if you’re a paying customer. So if you you wanna get treated like garbage and basically getting yelled at that’s the place to go. Everybody else I would advise to stay away. We travel a lot to Italy and we know, that they’re a little bit rough sometimes, but this was different and totally out of line. So I don’t know,
We visited the place upon recommendation of a Levanto resident We ordered wine not a cheap one: Euro 29, which for Italy is quite a heck of money) The bottle came to the table half opened the aluminum seal was ripped off, the cork was half way out) The waiter ceremoniously completed the opening procedure, Curiously enough, the wine was quite chilled which it is known to mask flavors) and absolutely flat. Suspect is that it was a mixed of pre-served wines. 1 star for not respecting the basic rule of opening bottles of wine in front of the patrons. Food was average/ hi average: portions meager Needless to say it is a no return
