It was Sunday and extre... read more We were told by a friend to visit the market in Port Leucate and after doing that it was time for lunch so we decided to go to L"Amiral. It was Sunday and extremely busy but the waiters were doing a great job in getting everybody served. We had the dourada and it was fresh and excellent. Together with wine and coffee the price was very reasonable.

Where do you go? Ah! here's a bar restaurant overlooking a fine port in the little French resort town of Port Leucate. Most of the French tourists have left for the winter season and the hardy ones are there, enjoying the wonderful weather. The food, the service and the prices are adequate. Well intentioned, well meaning, Get in, order, eat and leave. There are other things to do.But, in general we got what we were looking for. A good quick meal

Our waitress whizzed by, slapping a carafe of water on the table and, once she got our drink order, dropping our wine off in the same hurried manner. We didn't mind since we were hungry and we could see she was trying to take care of everybody. My husband got the oysters and really enjoyed them. The waitress tried to snatch them away before he finish though and he had to grab the plate. We all laughed. I had tagliatelle with mushrooms and chicken. It was rich and filled with a lot of meat, pretty yummy. They let us finish as we watched the sun set over the harbor. Oh yes, it was a bit of a tourist trap with the rushed overturn of tables but good food makes up for a lot. We enjoyed it.I'd go back.
