The don't take bookings or cards, and still the Saturday night in January was full. The dishes are traditional representing straight forward cuisine. A special to finish is an Irish coffee served in a small vase.
Tucked up a side street this quaint little restaurant! Lovely ambiance, food is very basic and tasty The fillet steak was not a fillet!! However it was tasty Presentation of the food is very simple but it’s compensated by the setting Get there early, you can’t reserve a table and it’s normally full within 20 mins of opening
Had an evening meal with wife and 4 month old baby. Cal Galan has always been accommodating with a friendly service. The restaurant displays fantastic history of the old fishing town. Food is always 10/10. Great place.
Sunday in L’Escala is quite busy so we were lucky to get an outside table at Cal Galan. The staff were great, rushed off their feet with lots of people arriving and waiting for tables, but they were polite and enthusiastic and very helpful when we were ordering our lunch in Catalan. We had chicken in mushroom sauce and the roast lamb, both served simply with chips and tomato and our food was delicious. Cheesecake and an Irish coffee to finish a lovely Sunday lunch.
A large group of friends were recommended Cal Galan and it did not disappoint in anyway. The history of the place, the attentive staff who waited on us, where all excellent. Whilst the menu is compact in choice, there are more than enough tasty dishes to try. I had anchovies on tomato bread, and then the house special of pigs cheek with mushroom sauce and fried egg.... what a beautiful dish.
