I spend my money mainly in food and normally know the cities and cities at places where to eat, to do exhausting research and tests. I am proud to say that I was happy enough to eat from 3 michellin star restaurants to the simplest cheapest street food trucks and I have found most of the best meals I have eaten in those because it is about aromen, empathy, traditions and history. yesterday I went to the L’Ekrin with my wife expected that at least have a very good meal and good experience. starting with the good things, the best about the place is the team. the maitre, the barman and the waiters are incredible, the attention and the dedication to the service is remarkable. it's a pity that eating wasn't even close to that level. the chef of le L’Ekrin did not seem to like it at all. the best we had was the suppe (I was not in the supper card we ordered, it was a polite starter), the butter with the dry organic bread (better the natural than the truffle butter) and that dessert. We ordered the truffle menu because it is season and it was recommended (more than 200€ a person only the menu that started without drinks. nothing had a stroke, a bit surprising or risky (sometimes one would expect from a Michellin star restaurant), but the preparations were not even tasteful. at a point after the artichoke I said the maitre “I can’t honestly say whether this is good or not) but I stayed openly thinking. when they ask for a truffle menu, they expect the unexpected. in this case truffle was simply only discs of it for everything and maybe some in a soße. not integrated, not cleverly prepared, not challenging for the customer. I ate in 8-9 different restaurants, when 5 days and I had a better experience in any of those then than here. if they try in merible la grange or la table in mottaret. much better spent money. I honestly don’t understand how L’Ekrin has a star. it represents everything that can be criticized at such places: very overprised, pretentious, more show than actual food. I would understand if someone, the first michellin star experience was here, would not want to try others ever.

I opted for the Menu Unik (all about the black truffle) with the associated wine pairings. The atmosphere was so comfortable, all I had to do was...sit back and enjoy the ride. The courses were presented in a very well-paced manner (I never felt rushed). The chef has clearly earned the Michelin star as everything I had was excellent. Thank you Chef Azoulay and staff for such an exceptional evening. I highly recommend Restaurant l’Erkin.
