Coop puts pineapple in his baked beans, which gives them a sweetness without being too sweet and sugary. They were delicious, actually, and I’ll just go right ahead and say they are the best baked beans I’ve ever had. The collard greens were good, too. Nice big pieces, not tough and chewy, and not too salty. Good collard greens are hard to find, I think, so I’m glad Coop knows what he’s doing View all feedback.
The West Texas BBQ from Coop is my favorite barbeque restaurant in San Diego – even the best I had so far in California. It even beats some of the places I tried in Texas! Even if there is a bit of a ride from where we live, S and I still go quite often, and we are glad that business it seems to be boomin. Â Â Â Â Â
I heard about Coop's West Texas BBQ from local food bloggers and members of the Facebook group Eating Drinking San Diego. Coop's BBQ was pretty busy when we arrived on Sunday at 6:15. There was a line to order and we noticed that people go food in HUGE bags. The best deal looked like being the knockout combo for $30.99. It offered six meat (total of 3 lbs) plus two large sides and corn bread. The box we received was PACKED!
I have to say this is one of the best BBQ places in San Diego. Come there early to avoid the masses. There are not much seats in the restaurant so that a call to go could be better for you. There are single plates, combined plate, family dishes and children's dishes. All give you different options to try different items on the menu. The Brisket reminded me of the great BBQ I had in Texas. My husband saved over the ribs and had the occasional mmmmm when he was eating. My children love chickens BBQ and are a little picky, but they ate their plates that a big thumb up! Thank you. Coop 's for a delicious lunch!
This place is amazing! We must be crazy to go to Lemon Grove because we're coming from Cardiff! But it's worth the distance. There were a few of La Jolla who came and also saw the reviews on yelp. Whatever. The barbeque is amazing and I had brisket and ribs and for my sides I had baked potato salad and beans. My mom had the same thing and she thought it was very good.
The BEST bbq i've ever had!. This unassuming spot is seriously the BEST real bbq i've ever had! ppl who know bbq will appreciate this spot. I rate this spot wayyyyyy ahead of Phil's and think it's a huge joke that Phil's has a crazy line while this place doesn't. It def should be the other way around! COOP's FTW!
