The owner José is accommodating, generous, and makes you fee at home. The menu items rotate with the season allowing for a fresh menu and taste. This time around I had the Cataplana de peixe e Marisco. It was absolutely divine. Cooked perfectly with hints of parsley and light on the tomatoes, the fish and potatoes just melted away in your mouth. I HIGHLY recommend this dish while still on the menu. This is definitely a hidden gem of Leiria.

As you walk... read more I recently found this little gem in the large city of Leiria. Down a small narrow street suddenly Olive pops up with an large open space out front. As you walk in the front door, the owner and chef stood present over a well decorated and illuminated bar to greet me. Laid back he welcomed me and started a conversation before welcoming me to my seat. The server provided me with suggestions for the night while also allowing me choose based on preferences. Appetizers where amazing! Presentation fit the atmosphere well. Modern but yet relaxed. Dinner was just as superb, and the chocolate mouse was one of kind. As a great lover for mouse, this was rich but had the perfect balance with the Creme and fruta. Well done José. Olive is a hit and definitely worth a visit if you are in Leiria.
