Pretty poor service and food at Shabab Express, Leeds although the express part lived up to it's name! We felt rushed, that the food was quite generic (two completely separate dishes we ordered were exactly the same I kid you not... Lovely chapatis though! Coffee tasted rubbery and stale. Won't be returning which is a shame as the place is lovely in terms of decor and it was certainly busy on a saturday night, we paid £20 a head though and everyone had indigestion afterwards.
Shabab Express provides a pleasant greeting and delicious dishes. The Fish Jalfrezi was excellent. However, I found the Sag Paneer to be a bit too sweet for my liking, as well as the chutneys that came with the papadoms.
During our weekend trip to Leeds from London, we had a delightful evening at this restaurant. The staff were attentive from the moment we walked in, and were very accommodating. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back again in the future.
I recently visited Shabab Express in Leeds and, as always, had a great experience. The food was delicious and the staff were welcoming. The restaurant has been renovated with the tables and chairs from Shebab Restaurant on Eastgate, so the interior no longer resembles the old Dino's.
I passed here so often when I went to the station and finally tried to try it, was not disappointed. Inside it is much smaller than I had imagined and on arrival the reception staff were a little blunt, but the impressive facility was enough to distract and fortunately the rest of the staff during the meal were excellent. They were able to recommend dishes and explain the options all during the rest friendly and welcoming. The menu is extensive and mostly oriented around ‘special’ dishes, making the traditional items a small easily missable section. This encouraged me to try something new and I was not disappointed. The chicken liver starter was a decent size that arrives in good time (especially since the size of our group) and very pleasant. The presentation of all starters on the table was good and no one had complaints. The net also arrived in time and was equally well presented. The portion sizes didn't look great at first, but that must have been an illusion, as we are all filled with matching! Each dish was exceptionally tasty, with only the right amount of spices and herbs that justify the special promise of each item on the menu. The rice dishes were delicious and the keema rice had a lot of meat in it, that was great. The Naan breads were a speciality that they serve are huge hanging from the table and are delicious. Overall, each product on the table was delicious and impressive. The tables are all very large and are ideal for groups. They complement the decor and are works of art in themselves. It is nice that the kitchen area is open and if you sit close to it, it is entertaining to watch the skillful staff make the bread. The drinks were a little slow to use, but perhaps this was not helped by the size of our group. Overall, it was a wonderful meal and an unforgettable curry. It is certainly not the cheapest, but the quality of food and unique aspects make it worthwhile and I would certainly return.
