What struck us first was the extensive menu, especially considering that Taste appears to be a relatively modest café and sandwich shop at first glance. There’s something to satisfy every appetite, from the aptly named Fully Monty, which includes sausage, bacon, vine tomatoes, grilled portobello mushroom, homemade BBQ beans, sourdough toast, and eggs for just £10.50, to lighter bites and various vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. To make the selection even more challenging, there are also several daily specials. After deliberation, we decided on one of the specials: the smoked salmon with hash browns. What a great choice it turned out to be! The homemade hash browns were packed with fluffy potatoes and salmon, perfectly complemented by a creamy sauce, and a generous handful of fresh rocket rounded out the dish beautifully. We hope to see this dish promoted from the specials board to the regular menu soon! Our first selection was indeed impressive, and our second choice from the brunch menu—scrambled eggs with chorizo on sourdough toast for £7.00—proved to be equally high in quality. The creamy eggs were enhanced by generous portions of delicious smoky chorizo, served on a hearty plate of crispy, incredibly tasty sourdough. Once again, the fresh rocket added both color and flavor. In conclusion, while the term "hidden gem" may seem clichéd in culinary circles, given that it’s still early days for Taste in the weekend brunch scene, it’s an apt description for this delightful café. Although it may not be in the heart of the city, it’s not far from Leeds’ pub and bar circuit, making it an ideal spot to relax over brunch or recover from a night out. This restaurant offers excellent food quality at reasonable prices, along with quick service. There's a wide variety of options, particularly for vegetarians. The dishes are beautifully presented, and the atmosphere is lovely. It's a fantastic spot for a lunch break; I was in and out in just 20 minutes and enjoyed a warm meal. I will definitely be returning!
Taste is a hidden gem. This medium-sized bar and restaurant is available for exclusive rentals on weekday evenings, accommodating up to 30 guests for private parties. It's conveniently located near the train station, with plenty of parking available in the evening. Feel free to give Sharon a call, or better yet, stop by for a chat!
Excellent service friendly and not over camp. great eating amazing coffee. really good atmosphere good for groups, meetings or a solo visit to think their own business.
