Service was hit or miss, with some staff being rude or inattentive, while others were friendly and welcoming. Despite this, the beautiful location, good beer selection, and cozy atmosphere make it a popular choice for many. Overall, while improvements could be made in terms of service quality and consistency, the restaurant is still recommended for those looking for a charming pub experience.
Beautiful Sunday dinner! it is popular so they need to book (covid or no covid.) they get their table for two hours that is a lot and during our slot we saw two groups of people politely said they were fully booked. there is both a staircase up and down, the bar down in the ground floor is dog friendly. the booking system asks in which area they want to be located, even outside.) the Sunday menu is simply a traditional Sunday roast with a selection of three meats as well as a vegetarian and a vegan roast. the success I believe is simple. because the cooks do not make a zillion different meal times, they focus on the perfection of their roast. my first test is always whether the veg contains, not because I don't like the inherited, but because many pubs serve them as a simple option (as well as cook from frozen) but no inherited here. instead we have perfectly boiled brokkoli, carrots and cauliflowers. the crushed brisket was delish and yaaay parsnips, stuffing and a pig in a deck and it is not even christmas! topped off with a huge house boiled yorkshire pud and no skimping on the gravy! we also shared a sticky toffee pud with again, much karam. we will book here again deffo! bonus: because it is at the river and canal, they can cross the road and go for a walk through the trail before or after eating / drinking.
Dog friendly pub, good location by the river. Really nice in summer. Huge beer garden and under cover outdoor seating, can be fairly expensive and full of rowdy students at times. Car park a bit awkward to get in and out of as only one car at a time can enter/leave.
Lovely late lunch fabulous service from friendly helpful staff. Food was delicious and great value for money. The snug was a really nice setting for a cosy family catch up
Our table was booked for 12.30 nobody came over to ask if we would like to order,so I went over to the bar and said can we order, so she came to our table and took drink order then went away.At 1.45 I said can we order for food she took the order.Took over 1 hour I said we have children who are hungry can u please bring them some chips which we did, anyway when we all got the food it was just warm only thing was hot was pizza very disappointed it was my husband's birthday we were 11 people who was looking forward to dine at your place.we won't be sadly be visiting again.
Came here with Tom for a couple of pints and some food. Sat outside in the glorious sunshine, sipping on lager with views of the local flood defences, made for a perfect evening. We shared a pepperoni pizza and Yorkshire loaded fries (cheesy chips with gravy) which were very nice. We then ventured inside to do the pub quiz. It was free, which is almost unheard of in the Pub Quiz community. The questions were just the right level I thought. Not too difficult, but a decent challenge. We got 44.
