Big fan of Brown’s in Leeds, Glasgow and Brighton. Normally a great example of an upscale chain restaurant but this time it was appalling. The waitress was great and doing her best to cover up for the kitchen/chef and management failures. I can only imagine that the A team had the day off between Xmas and New Year. A must visit place for anyone in Leeds if you are looking for excellent food without the unnecessary gleamy formalities like suite'n'tie.
Basically, I've not been back in fliippin' eons, so this Sunday just gone I decided it was high time for a revisit.
A group of four friends and I made a reservation for Saturday at 8:30pm at this restaurant. The food and drinks were delicious, but the service was extremely slow. The waitress took a long time to take our drink orders and bring them to our table, even though the establishment was not busy. The staff behind the bar seemed more interested in chatting and laughing than attending to customers. Our food was tasty, but we had to remind the waitress to bring us the wine we had requested to go with our meal. It took her another 15 minutes to finally bring it, by which time we had finished eating. To make matters worse, a 10% service charge was added to our bill, which we asked to have removed due to the subpar service. It was uncomfortable for us to have to do this, but we felt it was necessary given the slow and disappointing service we received.

We (myself and friends) booked a table for for Saturday at The food and drinks were very good, however the service was very slow. The waitress was very slow to take our drinks orders and bring them over to our table, even though the bar and restaurant was very quiet. The staff behind and around the bar were stood laughing rather than waiting on tables. Our food arrived and was very good, however we did ask the waitress for some wine to have with the meal. The waitress must have forgotten we had asked as she returned minutes later to ask if everything was ok with the meal, at which point we had to remind her we had ordered the wine. The waitress then took another minutes to bring said wine, at which point we had completely finished the meal. They also add a service charge on the bill, which we asked to be removed as the service was not good. This is itself is quite awkward for diners to have to do, as we did not want to be impolite, however we did not feel that we should have to pay this as the service was disappointingly slow.
