I never would have thought it, but here in little Lee, Maine is the best BBQ place we have found in the Northeast! We shared the pulled pork sandwich with the house made sauce and the smoked turkey sandwich with a sauce mix suggested by the proprietor of the house and mango habanero sauce. They were both positively amazing! The potato salad was spot on and even the dill garlic pickle was the perfect fit. The only thi... View all feedback.
I have been looking at this little place for a couple weeks and finally stopped in today. Oh, my goodness what we have been missing! The food is fresh and fantastic. Eating out up here in the Maine highlands has been full of disappointments. Today that all changed with Post DD-214!!! The pork BBQ sandwich with house special BBQ sauce was simply amazing. My boyfriend had the smoked turkey with a mix of the house BBQ and Mango habanero sauce. Both were simply the best food we have had since arriving in Maine in July. The potato salad was perfect and even the pickle complemented the meal. We are looking forward to trying the pizza and the rest of the menu selection! It is well worth the trip to little Lee, Maine!!!
Just up the road from Lee Academy we discovered a truly outstanding little restaurant. An enterprising and creative initiative by an Army vet, the owner and chef, Josh, brings to Lee a diverse menu of delicious meals he prepares. Choices range from incredible smoked meats to salads, pizzas and desserts. All are offered as eat-in or take out. FIVE STARS! Wow!
The Post (for short) is locally known for its smoked meats: brisket, pulled pork, ribs, burnt ends.....you get the picture! I'd be painting half a picture if I didn't mention the pizza: 10 or 18 . You can even get a cauliflower crust. The usual toppings are available in addition to various smoked meats. For lunches there also are various paninis. The Post has been open less than a year and you have to make allowances for an evolving menu and basic dining amenities. There is no wait staff; you order, you pay and your order is brought to the table. It's eat in or take out. On Fridays, there is live music for patrons to go along with your meal. The owner's name is Josh, an interesting and strikingly friendly guy, who may sit and chat with you when he brings out your food. Josh is an Army vet and cooking is a passion. When dessert is on the menu, be sure to get it! It's freshly made every day and it goes quick! My favorite is the Caramel Pecan pie. So, when traveling the Rt. 6 corridor and approaching Lee, be sure to stop at this tasty oasis in an otherwise fast food wasteland!
This is the best pizza I've had in this area of Maine! They offer fantastic BBQ and a variety of menu items beyond just pizza. The atmosphere feels warm and welcoming, like a true family-run establishment. The staff is wonderful, too. Be sure to support your local small business!
I never expected to find it, but in the small town of Lee, Maine, we've discovered the best BBQ restaurant in the Northeast! We tried the pulled pork sandwich with the house-made sauce and the smoked turkey sandwich with a sauce blend recommended by the owner, along with mango habanero sauce. Both were absolutely delicious! The potato salad was perfect, and even the dill garlic pickle complemented the meal perfectly. The only regret I have is not discovering this place sooner! We've spent the summer in Maine feeling let down by the local food scene, but this spot is definitely a must-visit when you're in the area!
