Nestled in a picturesque English country garden, this restaurant offers a luxurious dining experience marked by excellent service and a charming ambiance. Guests rave about the outstanding food, particularly the unique dishes featuring locally grown produce, like the notable purple cauliflower. While prices are on the higher side, many agree the experience justifies the cost. To make matters worse, a friend had called ahead and paid for a glass of Prosecco as a birthday surprise. However, the staff presented it to me as a complimentary drink without mentioning my friend’s gesture. As a result, I didn’t thank my friend at the time, and she felt awkward about asking whether I had received it. Overall, unless you have plenty of money to spend, I cannot recommend this restaurant for any occasion, especially not for a special one.
We were seated at a table right by the entrance, and every time someone walked in or out, we were hit with a cold draft. We asked to be moved, and the waiter relocated us to a table further down the conservatory. However, we were still near the entrance to an outdoor seating area, which meant we faced the same problem and had to get up three times to close the door that was left open. In mid-November, seating guests by a door is simply not a good idea. I didn't bring it up with the staff again since the restaurant was quite busy, and I didn't want to make a scene, especially since I was celebrating my birthday. The food was good, but being so cold really detracted from the overall experience. In a restaurant of this caliber, I think the staff should have proactively addressed the issue, as they saw me struggling to keep the door closed.
Wonderful food and service Had a very pretty kitchen garden . Went to see the main house and was rudely turned away. Had intended to spend Christmas there with a friend. Not after that . We were even escorted off the grounds by a man in a buggy . That after spending nearly £300 on lunch. Anyway can recommend the Garden restaurant. Give the hotel a miss Rooms: 5
