What cally g dislikes about The Bear:
We were totally ignored by the bar staff when we arrived not a good start ! Eventually we were acknowledged and our order taken . Food went downhill from here !! Lovely surroundings and environment, but the owners shoul... View all feedback.

A fairly good pub. Bit expensive but overall the service and food was good. The menu is limited and needs to include some traditional pub grub, the children’s menu should include what kids will eat. Recently pub restaurants are losing touch with what people want.

We dropped in to The Bear for Saturday lunch as research indicated it was dog friendly. Never been before but was very pleasently surprised. The menu was not extensive, but the choices were lovely. Starter items were hard to choose as we would have eaten all of it! Main plates were up-market pub regulars, but again, high quality and well presented. We could not get as far as desserts! Would I eat here again? Yes, very much so. It may become a bit of a regular as we meet up with friends on the basis of it being a halfway point. The beer choices were also pretty good, but as we were driving we could not do them justice!

Gluten free fish chips was great. I was a bit disappointed that there was no GF dessert option apart from ice cream when these are so easy to make. However, Dan was amazing- great service, very friendly and helpful and happy to share jokes with our family group of 12. Price per person: £30–40 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Fish and Chips Dietary restrictions: Good main choice options but no desserts.

We had such a great family meal here! The team couldn’t have been more welcoming, and the service was spot on from start to finish. Dan looked after us brilliantly, friendly, attentive and made the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone planning a get-together. Thanks to Dan and the team!
