The menu was short but the food was excellent. Service was very un French fast. Through our meal courses arrived just as we finished the previous dish. All was very flavoursome and I recommend it to any visitors to Le Puy en velay. View all feedback.
What Christiane Bonneau doesn't like about Saveurs du Mekong:
Le service était digne d'amateurs : pas de verres apportés avec la bouteille de vin, nous avions dû en prendre par nous-mêmes sur la table voisine, la bouteille de vin a été déposé dans un seau vide ne contenant pas de glaçons (résultat : vin tiède), les menus ont été laissés sur notre table tout le long du repas... + Accueil pas très chaleureux. Surpris et déçu par la qualité de ce restaurant pourtant bien classé su... View all feedback.
This smallish restaurant has a reasonably limited menu but what they make is excellent. The food is very tasty and fresh. It was a great experience. Service was rapid and very friendly.
We were looking for something different and we were so lucky to ffnd this restaurant,.the food was excellent and the service wonderful. A small menu but very good fresh quality food. Audrey was a great server and made the evening special. You must visit here if you visit le puy en Velay.
It 's already very difficult to be a vegetarian in Puy en Velay, but to get served only a cup of rice with two branches !!! of spinach-like as a dish of rice with vegetables, is the most rediculouse and unprofessional think I ever saw. it was rush noon hour, but the restaurant is small. Only 2 people were working there; one in the kitchen and one not that bright on the service. We asked 2-3 times for some water. I had to stand up and look fir it. The starter came, sauce ware missing, we had to ask twice for it. When the vegetarian dishes came, I had to ask If it was a joke... The menu doesn 't offer any vegetarian dishes, but the girl on the service proposed rice with vegetables, which is great and enough yo sustisfy any vegetarian. Unfortunately I did take any pictures of the dish... For this rice-with-No-Vegetables-dish we should pay the same as a dish with meat, which was also very strange... The final touch was to pay cash and expecting the change back... That was the worst but funniest experience in a restaurant... enough to never return though...
I simply cannot agree with the reviews to date though I note there have been none for some time. Perhaps something has changed (though not for the better I would add). I have eaten in a number of Asian, particularly Thai, restaurants over the years including a number in the region. This was like nothing I've ever come across before and a severe disappointment. The menu options were extremely limited indeed the written menu we were given had less than is alleged on the website and there were no chicken dishes a significant omission for an Asian restaurant. Entree (the Popiah Sod) resembled something Asian but could only be described as bland. Main bore no resemblance to anything Asian I have ever seen or tasted before and was extremely disappointing. Best course, by a considerable margin, was desert though I fail to see how you could call a banana chocolate gateau Asian. Final straw was the staff appeared totally disinterested. If you want Asian give this a wide berth.
