Hook Reel - Layton

Tyler, our waiter, was awesome! He was very friendly, attentive, and humble. He suggested the shrimp boil for our first time there, we also got the flounder po' boy with fries. It was all as delicious as he said it would be. The food was very flavorful and fresh. Strawberry cheesecake and beignets were wonderful! Atmosphere is pleasant! The eighties and nineties music even made us feel cool. Highly recommend this place and be sure to ask for Tyler in the Layton location!!

Delicious food with a great ambience. I tried to curse what I would not order again, but my husband ate it together with his meal and we had an appetizer dish of Hush puppies, Calamari and fried oysters we loved. You can't go wrong with one of their desserts.

Usually not my cup of tea because I'm not sure how to gage the amount of food...BUT, we got a couple boils which were all really good (good hot sauce) and I got the fried catfish and crab fries (the crab fries are a must get, I added some Red Hot to everything). Both were plenty and we were stuffed. The steam inflated bags the boils come in are fun and make for a nice experience with friends. The beer was cold and delicious. The dessert wasreally good hot and chewy. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and patient (we asked a lot of questions)... thank you to her

Service is great and food is exceptional! This was our first time eating here and we will be back. We ordered shrimp and sausage etouffee, Clam Chowder, and a Crab Cake Basket with crab meat fries (eat the crab meat fries with a fork). Seriously, really flavorful food and the seafood was cooked perfectly! We chose to sit and eat at the bar and the bar tender, Tyler, was amazing! Will ask for him again. The music is good as well and not too loud. April 29, 2021 Update we came in this evening with the kiddos and ordered the same things as last time plus a appetizer that was super yummy! Wish I would have taken a photo of it. Loved our service from Tyler he does a really good job and we have enjoyed his service both times we have had him. He is on top of everything. We feel spoiled as we never need to ask for any refills on drinks. My family enjoyed the atmosphere and food again. Definitely was nice going during the middle of the week when it’s not as busy. We will be back! Thank you so much for a nice experience getting out together as a family. February 22, 2022 Allie was an amazing server! Never once had to ask for a refill or anything. I don’t know who was the cook that night but hats off to you. The food was well seasoned and tasted absolutely delicious ! It was so good seeing our favorite sever Tyler that popped over to say hello. Not even surprised Tyler is a manager now. Thank you Allie for serving us!

For the Valentine's Day special, priced at $69 for dinner for two, we received an appetizer, main course, and dessert. We opted for the crab dish, which included various seafood options like crab and shrimp, and we added extra shrimp for an additional $4. For our dessert, we chose a lemon blueberry treat. We decided to try the "hook drum original sauce" at a spicy heat level. I can handle some heat, and it was just right for me, though I could have probably gone a bit spicier. I didn't try the next level up, but I think my fiancé would have appreciated it more since he loves spicy food. The main course was delicious! We couldn’t get enough of that sauce! The potatoes were perfectly cooked and could easily be cut with a fork. Although we ordered the lemon blueberry dessert, the server mistakenly brought us cheesecake. I’m not a fan of cheesecake, but since we needed to head home, we didn’t mention it to our server. To my surprise, I loved the cheesecake! It was fantastic when dipped in chocolate and strawberry sauce. Typically, cheesecake is too dense for me, but this one was quite light. Overall, we had a great dining experience. It might have been even better if we had been given gloves (I dislike getting my hands messy). I'm not sure if they forgot to provide them or if we needed to ask for them. It wasn't a deal breaker, but it’s just how we prefer to dig in. It was amusing, and we would definitely return for more delicious food!
