Reviews - Grumpy G
Reviews summary
An energetic Dominican eatery in Lawrence, MA, known for standout dishes like chimi, monfongo and BBQ ribs. Diners praise bold flavors and attentive servers, but experiences vary: some report skimpy portions, salty or overpriced plates, and inconsistent cleanliness and service. Reggaeton with explicit lyrics makes the vibe lively but not family-friendly. Expect late-night availability and QR/TV menus, though tech and language hiccups have been noted. Great for adventurous or late diners; temper expectations on consistency.
Was Rosario Morel at Grumpy G a mag?
After searching for a restaurant with an open kitchen in Boston and coming up empty due to it being past midnight, we decided to head home and try a local spot instead. It turned out to be the best decision we could have made! The food was excellent, and our waitress was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable. She provided great recommendations, and each of us absolutely loved our meal. View all feedback.
What Sophia Fernandez dislikes about Grumpy G:
The food here is excellent, but is it really worth the trouble of getting it? I've experienced too many occasions where I place my order online, only to end up waiting an additional 20 minutes at the restaurant on top of the usual pickup time. I just wish they were more transparent about these delays. View all feedback.

This business does not serve overpriced food, you can get the same thing at the restaurant next door for half the price and better quality, the owner of this business seems to not care about quality or what consumers think.
Misleading advertisement. They advertise steak Yaroa but only provide ground beef for an extra charge. I do not recommend ordering through DoorDash for this restaurant. They got my drinks wrong and didn't contact me at all about any unavailable items. When I called to report the incorrect order, the woman on the phone was very unprofessional.
It was the worst service I have ever had, and I walked into the tv menus out of service. Asked if they were open for service. Women spoke no English and would not converse in Spanish. Was thrown a QR code to scan by a young man whom seemed to speak some English. When sitting to try and review the menu the same woman came over hovering on-top of us. When asking for more time (in Spanish mind you) she made faces at us.To note the restaurant was not that clean. Half the place was stacked up with tables. Have never left some where so fast.

I absolutely love the food, and the staff is friendly and incredibly welcoming. I even drive 40 minutes just to dine here!
I had a fantastic experience at 'Sazon'. The service was excellent, and the cleanliness of the place made it even more enjoyable. I ordered the Monfongo Trio, which came with yucca, green plantains, and yellow plantains. I absolutely loved it! I can't wait to try more dishes on their menu in the future.
Update 2/15/22: I chose to visit again and sample a different dish. I ordered the grilled BBQ ribs, and they were fantastic—unlike any ribs I’ve ever tasted! The salad was fresh and crunchy, and the mashed potatoes were quite good too. I will definitely return; everything was perfect!
The staff is welcoming and friendly, and the family-friendly atmosphere, along with delicious food, makes this place a delightful experience.
