What User doesn't like about Sato & Chan:
We visited Sato Chang very often and we were always very pleased with everything we were ordering. Last week we decided to go again and to our big surprise, the name was different, the menu was different and the variety was very minimal. Same staff (some very rude), same decor but not the same quality and not very good. Very disapointed, this place is now out of our list, we will try to find another one like Sato Cha... I am a regular at the Kirkland restaurant. I tried the Laval restaurant for lunch. The portions of sushi are half the portions served at the Kirkland restaurant. The seaweed salad was so small that they served it in the same bowl size as the one for the ginger served with sushi. I will not go back to this restaurant.
This restaurant is in desperate need of some improvements or to simply shut down for good. The atmosphere resembles a sketchy warehouse, with the upper floor now being used for storage instead of seating. The lack of customers is apparent, and the worn-down furniture, dirty carpets, and disinterested staff only add to the dismal experience. The all-you-can-eat food is of poor quality and questionable, with one diner even finding a piece of plastic in their dish. The waitress's lack of concern or apology suggests that this might be a common occurrence. It's evident that it's time for this establishment to throw in the towel and close its doors.
The restaurant offers a great variety of sushi and other dishes. Even if you're not a fan of sushi, there are plenty of delicious options available. The menu features unique dishes with fruits in some of the sushi rolls, setting it apart from other sushi restaurants like Kanda, K2, and Sushi Palace. The sesame beef, salmon sashimi, and beef tataki were particularly outstanding. I recommend trying the Thousand-Island roll. The service was excellent - prompt and friendly. We arrived at 5:15 and the restaurant quickly filled up by 6:30. The noise level was a bit high, but the interior decor was impressive, with large seating area and elegant bathrooms.
The first time we went when it first opened it was bad. But a year later we went again and it was great. Quick service and people are nice. The variety of food is good as well. A bit expensive, but average price for an all you can eat sushi around Montreal/Laval. Sometimes the food is cold but it's rare.
It is all you can eat, but cook to order....with the price I think it worth the money. You are not comparing this with classic/authentic Japanese restaurant since it is not fair to do so. I like the way it works so you only order what you want and they bring it to your table. Many oriental selection not just Japanese style. Even on a Thursday it is still packed. Overall it is a fair restaurant.
