Was RoperT at Le a mag?
I ate here after a long flight and then train ride into Lausanne, and immediately felt relaxed and upbeat. The pizza was just the way I like it: thin crust and crispy, with fresh-tasting ingredients. The salad was also just right. But most importantly, the staff were very friendly, with the decor being modern but comfortable with lots of space. I have had the pleasure of staying at the Mövenpick Hotel and eating at Ciao Trattoria. The food is delicious, and and the service wonderful and friendly. Even though it had been 4 month since my last trip, the staff remembered me and even remembered the table I had sat at last time! Highly recommend great food, wine, service and ambiance.
Four of us were looking forward to dining at this Italian restaurant in Lausanne but it was such a disappointing experience. A number of items were missing from the menu, including lasagne and they didn’t even have Peroni beer, which we had enjoyed in the bar a couple of days earlier. They did however have a draught beer, which we ordered. We all chose something different to eat. Although the restaurant was fairly empty I noticed several items on the open kitchen servery for several minutes waiting for the waiter to take to a table. I hoped that this food was not destined to our table but I was wrong it was for us. My sea bream was just luke warm but the accompanying vegetables served in a small dish were cold. They didn’t look particularly appetising either a mixture of mushrooms and onions and possibly one other vegetable. They were all mixed together and gave the impression that they had been reheated more than once. The waiter did take them to be warmed up. My wife ordered a pizza margherita. It was a large one and arrived a couple of minutes after our other orders. It looked inedible and a couple of us who tasted a small piece agreed that it definitely wasn’t cooked enough. We drew the attention of the waiter to this and in fairness he did ask if my wife wanted him to order another one. By this time none of us was in a happy mood so my wife declined and we left without ordering a dessert.
Had a nice light meal. Sat outside on a pleasant evening and had smokers nearby. I thought it was a bit expensive even for Switzerland.
I am traveling from the US and had a looooong day. I am usually apprehensive to try hotel restaurants but Ciao is great! The service was excellent and the meal phenomenal. I had the Bolognese and highly recommend it. Really a must try spot when visiting Lausanne and in the mood for Italian.
