Nestled conveniently for locals and visitors alike, this restaurant offers a charming ambiance and attentive service that enhances the dining experience. Diners rave about the fresh seafood, particularly the crab cakes, cioppino, and cream of crab soup, which are standout dishes. While some found certain meals too salty or overpriced, the quality and flavors generally impress. Despite occasional service lapses, the inviting atmosphere and delightful menu make it a notable option for returning patrons. Whether enjoying a date night or a casual meal, this destination promises a memorable experience with delicious food and warm hospitality.
The restaurant had a pleasant ambiance and a relaxed vibe. However, I found the food to be just average, and the waitress was often absent from our table for extended periods. Overall, while I might consider returning, it wouldn't be one of my top choices for dining.
My husband and I took the chance to enjoy a date while our kids were at their middle school Valentine's Day dance. We had originally planned to go to BJ's Brewhouse, but my husband discovered this hidden gem just three minutes from the school, and we were impressed by the menu, so we made a reservation. Upon entering, we were immediately pleased with our choice. The service was excellent; our server was attentive and patient, and the food was outstanding! I had the crab dip, and it was absolutely amazing! The fried flounder was also incredible, and my husband declared his steak one of the best he's ever had, packed with lump crab meat! We will definitely be returning.
We visited EJ's twice within three days, so this review will cover both experiences. Deidra was our fantastic waitress! Between the three of us, we enjoyed the very good and spicy crab cake along with fish and chips, and the homemade potato chips were also excellent. On our first night, we ordered a dozen oysters, which were delicious. We were thrilled to have the convenience of walking straight from the DoubleTree to EJ's – a huge bonus! And I can't forget to mention the great selection of local craft beers on draft. This place is definitely my kind of spot!
The server was timely, personable and knew the menu. The manager was cordial and helpful. The food was over priced, with small portions. Out of 6 meals ordered 2 were received well, specifically the mussels and my sons linguine and clams. Everything else was way too salty, and lukewarm. All in all a dismal failure that I will not ever repeat again.
Third time here... your Cioppino keeps me coming back! I have had this same dish every time because I love your version so much! It is a bit pricier than some I have had elsewhere, but it’s absolutely delicious and a very generous pot portion! Also the large baguette that comes with it is perfect for soaking up the zesty broth- so don’t mind paying the price. My husband is a big fan of linguini with white clam sauce,so decided to try yours...but thought it was too buttery or bland, and no Italian cheese on it or offered. All in all, we like your casual atmosphere and offerings and will come back again.
