As a native of Hidalgo, I am well-versed in barbacoa. The barbacoa here was decent, but could benefit from more herbs and salt. The salsas were tasty. The quesabirilla was good, but the consome was a bit bland. Overall, the food was decent. As a native of Hidalgo, I am well-versed in barbacoa. The barbacoa here was decent, but could benefit from more herbs and salt. The salsas were tasty. The quesabirilla was good, but the consome was a bit bland. Overall, the food was decent. Our server Elena was friendly, but another server spent too much time chatting with one table and ignoring others in need of service. The restaurant is clean, but unfortunately does not have air conditioning. This made the dining experience uncomfortable, especially when considering hot broth on a hot day.

To start off, the service was terrible. Our server, who was wearing glasses, was extremely rude when we asked about portion sizes. Despite telling her we had never been there before, she insisted on comparing the size of the dish to a salsa bowl, which was not helpful since we had no frame of reference. The barbacoa was flavorless, and the glass of coke I was served had rust on the rim. We overheard the cook say our food was ready, but our server refused to bring it out because she was busy refilling the chip container. Only after the cook raised his voice did she finally get our food. I ordered a torta with chilaquiles and carnitas, but was not informed that they were out of carnitas until the dish was already on the table, which defeated the purpose of ordering it with carnitas in the first place. The food was not good, and the service was even worse.
I must say I'm not much for barbacoa, but this place changed my ways. Great service many other options to choose from.Food: 5/5
