The Highwayman offers a mixed experience, with some customers praising the fantastic service and delicious meals, while others were left disappointed by the quality of the food. Some patrons enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and quick service, particularly during busy periods, while others felt rushed through their meal. Cocktails and Chinese menu items were highlights for some, although prices were noted as high. Overall, The Highwayman seems to be hit or miss, with some diners eager to return while others vow never to come back.

We visited this restaurant two Sundays in a row, first with friends and then as a couple. We had a great time. The food was fantastic and beautifully presented. The crab arancini, sea bass, and chilli beef salad were delicious. The Sunday roasts also looked amazing as we observed them being served to other tables. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, but special recognition to Tim who was exceptionally cheerful and welcoming to everyone. Burrow is located just a couple miles from Kirkby Lonsdale and is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

I met up with a friend at The Highwayman and it turned out to be a great choice. Despite being busy, the restaurant had a spacious and cozy atmosphere. We tried the shoulder of lamb, chicken coq au vin, and Appleby Cheshire cheese pies for our mains, all of which were delicious. We even had room for desserts, which included pavlova, hot waffle, and sticky toffee pudding, all of which were excellent. The service for the most part was great, although there was one staff member behind the bar (who seemed to be in charge) that lacked the professionalism of the others. Overall, we would still consider returning to The Highwayman.

The Highwayman is a fantastic country gastro-pub with lovely decor, delicious food, a great selection of beers and wine. The service is efficient and the staff are charming. It was the perfect spot for our group of friends to enjoy Sunday lunch after exploring the St. Peter's Church loop. The restaurant offers excellent value and I highly recommend it, whether you visit in February or June.

Lovely bar to meet up with friends. Great menu selection for vegetarians or particular diets. Good selection of ales. We were not pushed to leave after eating, very relaxed and welcome atmosphere. Our friends from Wiltshire were very impressed. Always recommend the Highwayman.

It was a very enjoyable experience. All six of our party enjoyed every dish. It's a pity my wife and I live 270 miles away.
