Cafe 21 is a lovely cafe that serves mostly vegetarian food although I had a lovely smoked salmon, cream cheese and cucumber sandwich and a drink on the balcony which had fantastic views looking out onto the Bowland hills and also the Fylde. The staff are really friendly and I would say that it is the best place at Lancaster University to go out for lunch. View all feedback.
What tonyn220 doesn't like about Cafe 21:
The restaurant has a great location and faces little competition on campus for this type of food, but unfortunately, the portion sizes do not match the prices and the quality of the food falls short. Despite the shortcomings, the curry stands out as the best option. Be prepared for a long wait, so it's recommended to arrive for an early lunch. View all feedback.
Yes, it may not be easy to decide to eat here while traveling along the M6, but it is definitely worth a visit. The restaurant boasts a great terrace and the friendly staff prepares delicious dishes that help you to relax and enjoy your meal. The menu is diverse, offering a variety of gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options. They also serve tasty local drinks. Overall, a great choice for a satisfying and enjoyable dining experience.
Overall the caffe is a nice caffe. it feels more like a modern caffe than a cozy, with very large windows and a great view from the top floor of the info lab. If they don't want to climb the stairs, there is a lift access to the top floor. the walk to the caffe is quite long when you walk from the north campus, but on a sunny day the view from its balcony makes the trek worth. eating is not cheap, but not expensive compared to other caffes in the city. for a falafel sandwich with soup/ries, it is £4 at the time that is written. the price for drinks is very good £2,20 for latte, cappuccino etc. The menu is actually under the special meal when the day page placed on their clip boards in front of the counter, not hanged on a large board / poster behind the counter like most caffes, so it took me a minute to find the menu. the presentation of the food and the coffee was good. Tasteful, the falafel I had was ok, but quite dry. the hummus was good, the use of lemon zeste in the hummus gave him a fresh, summery taste. the brot was on the airy side, although I would prefer the brot with a little more texture/chewiness. the suppe had a beautiful texture very nicely mixed and was not too hot/cold. the personal was nice, even if the service on the lightly slow side. because the caffe is only served during lunch hours, it is sometimes difficult to visit the caffe during the meal times when you stay on the afternoon mainly on the north campus. the negative by the way, the caffe is clean, fiendly, spacious and quiet enough to work. the music is not overwhelming, and the large windows allowed a lot of natural light to read comfortably. there is even a terrace/dach garden area with grass and wild flowers that is good for relaxing. it is a good place for a quick lunch meeting with friends on campus, some work for an hour or two, or just a quick break / treat. whether they are 're vegetarian/vegan or not, it is worth a visit :
Large new menu in this vegetarian, vegan and sustainable fish café. the prices are reasonable and there is a beautiful sitting area in the open with a view of the Bowland Coast.
