Reviews summary

Khan’s in Brixton has long been celebrated for its authentic Indian cuisine, with a warm atmosphere and an inviting BYO policy that enhances its charm. While some diners rave about expertly spiced dishes like king prawn skewers and tarka dal, others report significant inconsistencies, with experiences ranging from overcooked seafood to flavors that stray far from traditional South Asian cuisine. Complaints about poor service and questionable food quality surface alongside praise for speedy service and friendly staff. As Khan’s navigates its two-decade legacy, it remains a polarizing yet intriguing dining option in Brixton’s vibrant restaurant scene.

Excellent once again. Quasim and the team at Khan's went above and beyond to accommodate us, even offering us a complimentary (delicious) new dish. Would strongly recommend!

Khans consistently serves fantastic food, but it's their exceptional service that truly stands out among other Indian restaurants. I highly recommend this place to everyone!

The food was great and the service was quick! Really enjoyed the fun vibe for lots of young people celebrating. The atmosphere could be slightly improved downstairs I.e. mood lighting and less cramped, maybe some light background music but I would definitely come back again.

I have been buying food from Khans for many years and they never fail to disappoint. The food is tasty and consistent, and the staff are friendly and reliable. I usually get a takeaway but I did also take my parents to the restaurant a few weeks back, and they loved it too. Thank you Khans. We think you’re great.

I was asked to pay cash and go to the cash point around the corner, the bill was £17 more expensive than what I ordered. I gave the written bill to one of my children to check later, and the owner took it back from his hand on the way out without me noticing. Do not trust that place.

So we ordered the first time, very excited to try a curry house which is quite close to us. HOWEVER, upon delivery an elderly deliver man who was dressed in a uniform gave me the food after he was banging the bags of food about and said to me”we aren’t delivering here again, you are lucky you got the order” you can Imagine my shock that I didn’t even get a “hello”. I would understand if we only ordered a curry but after £58 later they took the order and decided to give delivery with attitude. He then walked away. The food was ok but can honestly say I am still speechless and it’s hard to eat Aloo Gobi when there was obviously none short of it from this delivery man! AVOID, IF NOT FOR THE FOOD BUT THE ATTITUDE THAT COMES WITH IT SINCE WE WEREN'T GIVEN THE CHOICE

As from bengali origin, I am familiar with curries and this place reminded me of restaurants past. the dishes were very standard, the only was 100% frozen, without doubt. the rest of the food was best moderate. there are far too many new authentic places with better directed everywhere. not sure how it got so good reviews, maybe from locals liked.

Khan's is a lovely, friendly little Indian restaurant on Brixton Water Lane opposite the infamous Hootenanny. It's BYO so super convenient with the offie next door. The management are excellent a very warm welcome, dishes recommended, jokes made. We brought in soft drinks along with the beer which isn't allowed (oops), but they were gracious and professional about it. The food is well thought out, with the usual suspects as well as an extensive tandoori section a particular stand out are the king prawn skewers which were spiced to perfection and grilled, leaving them juicy, hot and packed with flavour. The tarka dahl I also could have hoovered up from the bowl. It's a little bit...read more

Great curry house. No fuss, no frills. Just great food and service. BYO with a place to pick up a Cobra two doors down. Try the kandahar balti and the pumpkin masala. You won't be disappointed.

Our local Indian restaurant always tasty, very friendly atmosphere! Love the pumpkin masala and vegetable jalfrezi!

Excellent food with good service. on Friday evening before entering the cinema for a fast curry. the service was excellent that we told the waiter that we had only 45 minutes, and he ensured that we were served with double speed and in sufficient time; and he also gave us good recommendations on what it is. eating was excellent, not too oily/fatty, with the tarka dhal and green marsala especially good. I would recommend and we will come back.
