Si... read more If you find yourself in Lamar, PA, or are traveling along I-80 for a while and need a place to grab a meal, I highly suggest checking out Browns Hill Tavern! Situated conveniently off the Lamar exit, this tavern is a great spot to stop for a drink and some food without having to venture too far off the main road. The drinks are strong and reasonably priced, and the menu looks delicious. Unfortunately, we missed out on trying the food as they stop serving at 8pm, and we arrived a bit late at 8:05pm. Despite this, the bartender was incredibly friendly and recommended nearby places where we could find something to eat. Browns Hill Tavern has a dive bar atmosphere that appeals to locals and passing travelers, especially given its proximity to Quality Inn and Hampton Inn. If you enjoy that local, casual vibe, this place is perfect for you. However, if that's not your scene, it may not be the best fit.

For $80 a night the price is prett... read more This is a review of the motel. I don't typically write reviews, but I thought this experience was poor enough to warrant one. For $80 a night the price is pretty good for around State College. That said, the front door was hard to open with the key the room smelled of stale smoke the lamps by the bed wouldn't turn on the lamps outside the motel were very bright and left on throughout the night until sunrise. The curtains inside couldn't block out the light. Needless to say I slept very poorly. The heat pump heating the room also turned on every 15 minutes which was kind of annoying. the towels had a few small stains on them The lady at the front desk was very nice to me at check in. The shower was warm. If you're on a budget needing a place to stay near State College, you can probably get more for your money somewhere else.

It is an older bar/restaurant that was quite busy, so we requested to sit outside in the picnic area. The food was delicious and the service was great. I would consider it a hidden gem.
