You know it’s good when you feel sleepy after you’ve demolished the entire plate. Eat it with your fingers because it’s honestly finger licking good. We had the rendang, lemak ayam, lodeh, tempeh and begedil. Didn’t have the green sambal because I’m a wuss, but the parents had it and were wowed. Will be back for sure. View all feedback.
What Isabelle Dumont doesn't like about Warung Ita:
I often came here with an Indo friend. I don't know how we managed to drive through the city and actually eat so often since the last 5 times I passed, they were mysteriously closed 4 times and only once a...Note they are closed. This is a bad practice that I have seen in some traditional places and it can mean that the place is only really suitable for locals. And the time I finally take for some food, they tell me that the return will not be ready until mid-arvo. So I have chicken curry (which I used to really like) and some veges. It wasn't as delicious and rich as it was earlier and for $12, I didn't get a large amount of food. I was in Pondok Buyung in Kensington a few times lately and compared to them, Warung Ita is more expensive for smaller portions and the food is not so good.
Amazing food, doesn't look too good, but tastes amazing, I recommend everyone who loves Southeast Asian food!
We went there today, all the way from Central Station to enjoy this padang style (West Sumatra) dishes in Lakemba. Although I can't call it at all, they cooked it well. The fast-not-picy food is friendly for our younger children, but I hope they... increase the level of spice in the dishes. In my opinion, Warung Ita offers a better version of Padang Essen than the one in Pondok Buyung, Kensington. authentic.
The place is basic, but the food is great and truly authentic Indonesian cuisine. It is not westernized or skillful, it is just like the food you get in overseas. Cheap food too!
I used to come here a lot with an Indo friend.
