Lake City Cafe

Whenever we are in Creede, Colorado, we always make the drive to Lake City for one reason: to dine at Lake City Cafe. Their chicken fried steak, served with mashed potatoes and green beans, is a timeless classic. Unfortunately, on our recent visit we were disappointed to find that the restaurant is closed. All the outdoor chairs were stacked up, and it looked like they had closed permanently. We plan on returning in late August and hope that by then they will have reopened. We are willing to make the 52-mile trek once again in anticipation of enjoying their delicious food.

I rated this restaurant 2 stars because the food is decent and the service is good. However, they have inconsistent opening hours, only being open when they feel like it.

The service at this restaurant is excellent, fast, and friendly. The food is tasty and there is plenty of outdoor seating available. It is a great place to dine in for dinner, with prices ranging from $10 to $20 per person.

Oh gosh the food here is wonderful! We had a wide variety of food and everything except for the fries and tater tots are homemade... We learned this from the chef... We had a wide array of food... The pork tenderloin sandwich is humongous and only good for people with big appetites lol. We also enjoyed chicken fried steak, BLT sandwiches, and poor boys... Service was fantastic and Lake City conveniently is conveniently located on the main road

A nice restaurant with a pretty good menu. Went today and I had the half order of catfish and my wife had a BLGT. We were very pleased with our entrees. One note of caution about the catfish. It is not counted like they do in the South. A full order is advertised as 10 piece. It is not 10 large fillets, but is cut as chunks. Still tasted good, but was not what I expected. Will go again when in Lake City.
