It was on the occasion of 2 days of handling in Lacaune that we took a room for a single and small breakfast; without special expectations; from the backdrop, tired and dusty, the welcome we pleasantly surprised:sympathetic, natural and spontaneous while remaining simple and effective.joly rooms with bathroom and toilet, implacably clean and very comfortable!! And thank you for that and for the little extra shower gels that have forgotten ours... we will return with pleasure just in tourism and taste the kitchen with the smell so sweet...
At first the place does not look like much. A typical two-starish hotel restaurant overlooking the main square of Lacaune. We just stopped just for a drink and found the dinner menu very appealing so we stayed to dine. We were not disappointed! The best restaurant food I have eaten for a long time. Unpretentious, classic french with some innovative twists. Well-balanced tastes and high quality products. For starter: a dreamy combination of boudin apples and foie gras in perfect unison. This is heaven. For the main course: Sourris d'agneau, juicy and perfectly coked and served with a funny kind of peeled tomato somehow dehydrated on the outside yet almost raw inside, very fine taste. My dessert: crepe suzette was good but maybe not as exceptional but served with a very delicious homemade orange sorbet. The cafe gourmand was also very interesting. The prices were average but the food quality was far above the standard.
Stopped there for lunch on the way to our gite, portions are rather big and the cuisine is by nature quite heavy , but everything is very tasty and the local ingredients are of fantastic quality (the owner will quite happily tell you all about the various breeds of cows you can find in the area). It was a bit off season, so the place was far from full, but all in all a very pleasant lunch. We only had two courses (main dessert), if you order a starter I 'd recommend picking something light or forgetting about dessert...
We hardly knew the place was open, until we peered through the window and saw people inside. The menu was typically French in fact typically tarn. I had the tripe and my wife had the fish, the food came through within a couple of minutes and was piping hot. I'm not that keen on tripe, but as it was lacaune, I thought I would give it a go. I suppose for those who like tripe, it would have been excellent, my wife's fish was also excellent. The service was very friendly and efficient, although you need to be prepared to speak French. The owner came to talk to us and made us feel very welcomed. The portions were huge and we had to forgo the 3rd course because we were both full. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
