I LOVE this place. Great atmosphere and friendly service. Very quaint and unique set up in this re-purposed train station. Reasonably priced and each dish was better than the last. Can't wait to go back! View all feedback.
What VinnyGrette doesn't like about Cafe Pot-Au-Feu:
We love sitting on the porch beside the river, but on this trip, it was too cold for that. We sat in a sunny window overlooking the parking instead. The tourtiere was flavorful but the pea soup was definitely not a favorite. It required salt to hide the pastiness of the peas. It would have been nice to be offered a second soup choice, but there was only the one that day. The pulled-duck tortillas were rather bland an... View all feedback.
This restaurant occupies the former rail depot and looks out on the river. Very warm atmosphere; we were well taken care of. All four meals were delicious.
Had a quick visit to the covered bridge at Wakefield on a rainy foggy day. Afterwards retreated to Pot Au Feu for coffee and a chat with our overseas visitors. Our server offered to take a group photo and did a great job. We only needed coffee as we’d already eaten lunch elsewhere. They accommodated us with a smile and good service. I have eaten here in the past and look forward to returning with an appetite.
New to the area I stopped in thinking it would a nice place to sit and do some work, while enjoying dinner and a glass of wine. I sat at the door for a good 5 minutes while two different servers walked by me a number of times without saying a word. Finally seated, I waited another 10 mins to get asked for my drink order. I was then pressured to order my food right away (not telling me why) but said I’d order in a bit because I was going to try to get some work done. I spent the next 15 mins trying to swat the flies away from my drink (not fruit flies but actual poop flies) and get over the mouldy stale smell in the air. 15 mins later the server returned to tell me that the kitchen was closing in 5 mins and the restaurant was closing in 35 so I needed to order, eat then essentially leave. Needless to say I chose to asked for my bill but while waiting you could tell the staff was trying to get people out of there. By 8:30 pm (closing at 9) servers were stacking plates and there was a constant noise from the very nearby kitchen of what seemed to be the cleaning and stacking of pots and pans. If your looking for the flies of and the smell of an outhouse and the service of a theme park, this is your place. Personally I’ll never return.
My partner and I were staying in the Wakefield Inn up the road and stumbled upon this gem. Our server was named Karene (hope Im spelling that right) and she was very friendly and sweet. She even gave us a free bread board which ended up being my favorite thing. I had the lamb burger and my partner had the shrimp pasta and we were so impressed by how yummy everything was. We also had the freshest mojito I've ever tasted. Thank you Cafe Pot Au Feu for helping us celebrate our anniversary!
The food was fresh and delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed the poke bowl, the homemade vegetable soup was delightful.
