We were just walking down the street and happened to see a door open that showed merchandise. We walked over, and the building on the inside was huge with stalls and stalls of different merchandise. From shoes to food. A very interesting place. There were...places to purchase lunch, smoothies, fresh fruits and veggies, meat and fish, and all types of clothing! View all feedback.
What Arsenijus Vitoldas doesn't like about Mercado Madero:
we always like to visit the local markets when we travel. this is small, but was not welcoming after our opinion. bought only packaged cookies (gamesa,) we know. good for a short walk when they are in the opposite. do not go out to visit. View all feedback.

If they are ready to eat fresh or a fresh juice, authentic made in mexico leather good, or dress, this is the place to go! prices are very reasonable and great experience to visit an authentic market. they bring cash, because they don't have credit cards. or have atm available.
The Mercado Madera is a fascinating place. The actual Mercado has fresh fruit/vegie stalls, fish stalls, clothing stalls and places to purchase fresh fruit smoothies. I especially love the food stalls just outside the Mercado. I favor Loncheria Adriana and love their Huevo Ranchero breakfast....It's inexpensive and as authentic as it gets. The salsa has a great bite and there are chunks of ranch cheese on the beans. I love eating breakfast here. It's as authentic Mexico as you can get !!!
To the left of the entrance to the market, on calle Revolucion, there are several comedor 's (food stalls). We tend to favor the very first one on the right but all of them are good. For breakfast or lunch you will be hard pressed to...find a better down home Mexican meal. For about three (3) bucks you will get an excellent home style Mexican meal. We have been eating here for years and have, with few exceptions, been more than satisfied. This is not a fancy sit down restaurant, just a inexpensive good meal with working class Mexicans.
Unfortunately there is only one handful of shops here. I'm sure it was a great place to see. now it's not worth the time unless you really board
