We happened upon this place on our way to Santiago from Todos Santos and it was the highlight of our Mexico trip. Totally unexpected amazing platter of all locally made delicacies including homemade sausages, sauerkraut, local cheeses, organic greens, and delicious sauces. Plus, they had a local IPA on tap (muy raro en Mexico) and amazing ice creams with unique Mexican flavors including elote (sweet corn) and mamey (... View all feedback.
What John Bakri doesn't like about Bar El Minero:
The specialty sausages are pretty good, but not worth the drive. The paella wasn't worthy of the hype. The atmosphere in the courtyard is excellent. The service only fair. View all feedback.
Fuimos en noviembre para el Primer Festival Culinario del Triunfo donde Bar el Minero fue anfitrión, la atención fue genial y el lugar, paisaje e historia hicieron de esta visita inolvidable.
Made an effort to visit El Triunfo on a Sunday to see the cowboy and mining museums but mainly for the paella served at El Minero. We had heard it was outstanding. The ambiance of the outdoor dining was top shelf, with a solo guitarist/singer...playing and singing Flamenco. The mesquite fire pit where the paella was cooked was impressive. What was unimpressive was seeing the chef using his bare hands to add prawns and veggies to the paella. Also underwhelming were the portions. For 390p you would expect to be well fed. Not so. There was one prawn, a drumstick and a wing, a small piece of squid. I think the scallop was actually meat from one of the species of rays found in the Sea of Cortez. It 's a common switcheroo here. There was a chunk of some kind of meat that was kind of dry and there was some rice. Also, I didn 't know paella was to be served cold. In addition, we ordered the Classic Argentinean Choriso sausage (180p . It was tasty. The sauerkraut side dish was barely one fork full but also tasty. The potato salad was maybe twice that (portion control getting outta hand! . We left looking for something more to eat. Found the town bakery where 140p would get us a puny cinnamon roll. Meh! The museums are worth a visit but I would pack a lunch or plan to eat in another village. El Triunfo es muy carro! (imho .
It was surprising to come across a menu celebrating German style sausages in the middle of Baja but there they were.. and they were delicious... Not being a huge fan of long hours spent in museums it was nice to have a quick look at...the mining history of the area and then sit down to a very nice lunch. . Service was excellent and the Margaritas spot on..Something a little different and fun...We also took a dozen to go to grill that week. along with some of their very nice in house cheese...
