What KellyR doesn't like about Al's Char-house:
Pretty expensive for a Monday night but very tasty. I wish you could buy 1 kabob and not 2 as an option for less . It was way too much food. 2 of my children and I ate the meat the next day for dinner. View all feedback.
The restaurant was quite dimly lit; the people at the next table had to use their phone flashlights to read the menu. The stuffed portobello mushroom appetizer was burnt and overly salty, and the salad was swimming in water. My wife and I ordered a 16oz prime rib and garlic mashed potatoes. I noticed a $4.50 sharing fee, yet they didn't even split the plate for us. The participation fee was mentioned under the combo plate, but the waitress stated it applied to the entire menu, even though it wasn't clearly indicated. The carpet leading to the cellar, where the restaurant is located, looked like it hadn't been cleaned in 20 years, which might explain why the place was so dark. I made reservations in advance and noted that it was my wife's birthday. When we arrived, I mentioned our reservation, but they didn't even check the details after that. I won’t be returning.
The prices were somewhat steep for a Monday night, but the food was delicious. I wish they offered an option to buy just one kabob instead of two, as that would have been more reasonable. It was a bit too much for us to eat in one sitting. My two kids and I ended up having the leftover meat for dinner the following day.
We were promptly seated and welcomed by our server. All the food and drinks arrived quickly and at the right temperature. However, the lobster was slightly overcooked, as were the special potatoes. On the other hand, the steaks were cooked to perfection.
Eating was very good, coming for 20 years and the service was great.
Are server was Roberto. Service was excellent. Had Sunday special stuffed pork chops. 3 large pork chops. My wife had the bar b que chicken also large portion. Both dinners very good. Been to Al's before. Also will ask for Roberto for server
