Was goodinfo at Nullaġvik a mag?
Very comfortable and clean hotel. No issues at all bed was comfortable, lots of hot water, good tv reception. Hotel staff was friendly and provided lots of tourist information. Restaurant was good, short staffed. Our room overlooked the Bearing Sea. Would definitely go back and recommend it to others in the area. View all feedback.
What Kevin B dislikes about Nullaġvik:
What can I say a hotel restaurant in a tiny little village north of the arctic circle. Food was ok service was fine. Can 't charge to your room and still use old fashioned carbon paper for processing CC 's. Cash is best. View all feedback.
I’ve been dining here once a month for a couple of years now, as I often travel to the region for work and frequently stay at the hotel. I enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. For breakfast, they offer a casual buffet with standard offerings like bacon and pancakes, alongside made-to-order eggs and more. There’s also an espresso stand if you’re in the mood for an Americano. The lunch menu features delicious sandwiches and salads, and I can’t recommend the burgers enough—they're enormous and truly satisfying! They even serve a tasty Reuben that is grilled to perfection, not soggy at all. For dinner, I highly suggest trying the salmon; it’s always cooked just right and served with vegetables and a rice pilaf—a beautiful presentation. If you prefer something lighter, the Cajun shrimp or chicken salad is a great option, packed with Romaine lettuce and cooked to your specifications. If dining in isn’t your preference, you can always opt for room service or take your meal to go. Just be prepared for possibly longer wait times, as the kitchen can get backed up.
This place is lovely. The nicest restaurant in Kotzebue. I had the Reindeer cheeseburger and fries. The Reindeer on this burger tasted like a regular lower 48 burger. I hear Reindeer is a mix of Caribou and beef, so a pure Caribou Burger would be different. Those weren't offered here. The fries were close to the best in town. The Mango Smoothie was delicious. I was dining with a party of 12, and everyone was happy with their order. The wait service was a bit slow, but they were kind. We were seated in the glassed in private room off the main dining area. The view of the ocean was delightful! It was a great evening!
Reservations are necessary, but we have been able to walk in and still get served. That said, I recommend following the reservation policy to ensure a pleasant experience. Like many places, they have staffing challenges, especially during peak hours—which is common in Kotzebue as well. Fortunately, we rarely waited longer than our reserved time. The staff has consistently been friendly and accommodating. The dining room boasts views of the water from several angles, and on occasion, you might even see seals frolicking nearby. It’s certainly the only nice sit-down restaurant in the village. However, if you’re hoping to enjoy a cocktail or wine with your meal, you won’t find that in Kotzebue unless you dine at home, as there are no alcohol sales in restaurants or stores, except for the one liquor store. Just a heads-up: you need to purchase a license to buy alcohol.
The hotel and restaurant exceeded all of our expectations. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. I highly recommend the hotel for its outstanding service and the clean, comfortable rooms. We faced some travel issues due to the weather, but the staff was incredibly accommodating and supportive to us while we were far from home (in Ohio). The restaurant provided a lovely sit-down dinner with a view that was hard to beat. Looking out at the Arctic Ocean with majestic mountains across the bay was truly stunning. We enjoyed three dinners during our stay. I tried the bacon cheeseburger, reindeer with gravy, and the Denali burger, and each dish was fantastic. It was such a pleasure to unwind with dinner after a long day. A big shout-out to the staff for their excellent service!
Best food in town and maybe the best food north of Anchorage. I ordered the salad that had fried okra in it. I didn't expect to see food from my Southern childhood above the Arctic Circle! It was a great salad, but was overshadowed by the blueberry cobbler. Omg. It was subtly sweet rather than overwhelming like most cobblers, and very ooey gooey! Highly, highly recommend it.
