I went to this restaurant for dinner once, then went back for dinner again and three more times for cocktails! The food and drinks are amazing, definitely worth a visit or three! The Bakewell sour cocktail is incredible. The only downside is that both pizzas I tried during my two food visits (margarita and Napoli) were too salty. However, since this isn't a pizza place, I can't take away a star for that.
The food is excellent and the ambiance is wonderful, definitely worth the higher price! There is a diverse menu featuring burgers to Thai cuisine, and the cocktails are also very good. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Upon entering this restaurant, you are greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that seamlessly blends nature with high-class decor. The portions of food are excellent and offered at lower prices compared to other establishments on the island. Personally, I enjoy the schnitzel and steak with mashed potatoes and gravy. The owners, Will and Ning, also own another restaurant in town called the Fat Pig, which offers a different menu but maintains the same level of excellence. The food is delicious and varied, ranging from European dishes to fusion and traditional Thai cuisine. The quality of the food is deserving of a Michelin rating and tastes like authentic home cooking. I highly recommend visiting both the Fat Monkey and the Fat Pig while in Koh Lanta. Will and Ning are gracious hosts who make you feel welcome. I have yet to try everything on the menu, but I have been consistently impressed with their offerings so far. I always finish my plate at these restaurants, which is rare for me. The attached photos show the ambiance at the Fat Monkey and the delectable food at the Fat Pig, both of which offer equally delicious dining experiences.
Amazing food and beverages. Cool setting and friendly staff. Menu has changes somewhat from previous years but food still delicious.
Great restaurant. After trying the Fat Turtle on Long Beach last week, we decided to come here. Same restaurant group and they also own the Fat Pig (we will try next) by the pier. The vibe was great. Dimmed lighting, nice music that wasn’t power ballads (the island seems to love them). Good service and great food. Cocktails were very good as well. I had the British burger and it was the bomb. I had been holding out for a good one as I try not to eat them often. Glad I had tried theirs. House ground of three cuts and perfect seasoning paired with some skinny fries made this a perfect plate. Shandy enjoyed the seafood pasta (only requesting prawns). The sauce was well balanced and rich with wine, garlic, chili and light cream. Noodles were cooked al dente. The prawns were slightly overdone would be my only critique. Covered in fresh grated parmesan and a side of garlic bread. Great menu offerings with a focus on Western favourites. Large cocktail list.
