After a tour through the shops at Chlodwigplatz, I need a break. It was amazing that I didn't find a simple cozy restaurant that opened at noon. Even in this lively region of Cologne there are some cafes, snack shops or other locals – but hardly cozy economies. “Früh em Veedel” starts from 4 pm; ‘Fertig’ (with Reissdorf from 5 pm); „Brauhaus Johann Schäfer“ (Gaffel also from 4 pm. And the menu is clearly indicated on the internet pages. You should also eat something – only a beer is something out of the line. Brewery There I see – just before the thirst – a pub with Dom Kölsch. In the past, this brand was widespread, even “star restaurants” had it in the sink. I rarely tasted it and I could not understand the high degree of dissemination. Then it went down with the brewery. The beer was still made in the Lohnsud. At the end, it was bought and now belongs to the Radeberger Group in the Oetker Group. Here the brands at Gilden are summarized in Cologne-Mülheim. The “Haus Kölscher Brautradition” brews the brands Sion Kölsch, Sester Kölsch, Peters Kölsch, Küppers Kölsch, Gilden Kölsch and Dom Kölsch. Dom Kölsch received a new logo. The color changed from green to red – maybe it should remember early or Reissdorf, I don't know. Ambiente SEVERIN – The Veedelskneipe in the Severinsstraße looked inviting from the outside. In addition to the area on the street you can also stand in the counter or take a high table. Here, too, I liked the unanimous institution. The young man at the barrel was very friendly. Beer I don't know whether the recipe was changed by taking guilds, but freshly tapped Dom Kölsch didn't taste as bad as I remembered. Conclusion 3 – if it results. A fine pub – but if I really prefer Dom Kölsch from now on, the future must be shown. Open daily from 11 am. Perhaps the dishes from the kitchen taste even better than the beer – who knows? (1 – certainly not again, 2 – hardly again, 3 – if it turns out again, 4 – happy again, 5 – absolutely again – after “Kuechenreise” Date of visit: 12.08.2018 [here link]
Just had some beer and crisps here, but the bartender was very helpful. It's not pricy here and quite cozy. Wifi is good.Dogs are allowed in, so I had a great time petting someone's dog :) My main estimate is a how friendly staff is and how good are the drinks, so I give 5 stars here, though the selection of beers is narrow.
One of the typical Kölsch pubs in Cologne, close to Clodwigplaz. In the evening people on their way back home drop by for a beer, but it' s also a social meeting spot for the neighborhood. Local food on the menu, in case you need something hearty with the beer. At lunch time they serve the special of the day and during the warm season, they have tables at the street, nice spot for people watching since the street is limited for traffic.
Amazing food, great place for beer, I had my first Kölsch here, definitely recommend!
