Not a lot to say really. We stopped by on Monday morning to clear the heads and fill up before our journey home.My partner had scrambled eggs - warning these are closer in style to an English omlette - and I had a nice rye-type bread with eggs, ham and gherkins served with a lovely herb cream cheese. Nothing spectacular, but tasty and filling.The cafe is a nice exposed brick wall establishment and the highlight was the coffee. Beautiful cappuccino and we wished we could have stayed for a couple more.The waiter was very patient with our awful attempts at trying to order in German too, which is always a bonus.
All food was fresh and wholesome. Had the soup, cake and coffee. The staff were friendly and very helpful as I don't speak German well. The brunch menu looked great as well.

The “Schmitz Imperium” is located on Aachener Straße near Rudolfplatz; because in several shops next to each other – so to speak, the various locals offer their different programs. It is perhaps worth noting that the restaurants even offer their own beer: Schmitz Kölsch. it is not entrusted in its own direction; it is a reward from the Sünner brewery in lime. Thus, in any case, the conditions of the Kölsch Convention are fulfilled (because it is produced in the city area and is a bright bare upper as well as is presented in the corresponding glasses (Cologne Rod). We wanted to try the ice cream from Schmitz. This is offered at the bar. In the morning we have a breakfast offer, in the evening we will also have a restaurant. Ice and cocktails are available all day. In good weather, the outdoor areas attract customers to the street. Ambience As it rained in streams, we prefer to go inside. We wanted to go to the area set up in the Belgian Art Nouveau style: lazy, with a lot of colour and stucco. But that didn't go any more, even though it was just after 5:00, the tables were already covered for the evening and we could just sit in front of the counter. There you can see the bar and parts of the ice rink. Otherwise, however, it is also relatively narrow and the way through the restaurant goes directly past these places. You could almost reach the counter without getting up. Cleanliness Our table was already superficially clean; what it looks like when it is wiped after a customer change. Service The two young men stood at the counter. One scoops the ice in horns (for the runners or on the plates (for sitting guests inside or outside and the other served. Another waitress covered the tables in the upper section piece by piece. The waiter who brought us the ice was friendly but also not particularly communicative. The menu(s) Breakfast, cocktails and food are listed in separate maps on the tables. For ice cream there is a DIN A 4 page with the varieties and the note that only cash payment is possible. The ice offer is really extensive. A bullet costs 1.50 euros each. There are no “mugs” with fruit or other shrimps (such as spaghetti ice cream. We ordered two plates with four or five balls. And I really have to say that each variety had a typical taste. The chocolate ice cream, for example, had really strong cocoa aromas. The lemon Sorbet was wonderfully sour and refreshing. The Matcha ice cream had delicate tea notes. In the Stracciatella there were plenty of creamy chocolate snacks. Also the classic strawberry, vanilla or nuts were fruity, creamy or aromatic. It has made joy to taste ice pure again. The high quality justifies the price certainly. Conclusion 4 – happy again. In beautiful weather we will be more exposed or a time when we can continue to use the “beautiful” space. Otherwise, it can also be a little listening.
